In late 2014, the Longeva team worked around the clock to get the new website up (as well as explore preliminary ideas for the rebrand), so we were ecstatic to be invited to Westfield Valley Fair’s posh night, “Cocktails and Couture” on November 6th. Hosted by Hilary Phelps (www.hilaryphelps.com) it was the perfect occasion to celebrate fashion in Silicon Valley.
We thought we\’d sip fancy cocktails and check out incredible gown designs from Angelina Haole or the crisp and clean lines of Ferragamo. It was so much more than that! We met incredible talents from the community, including Hasti Kashfia, (Founder of Kashfia Media) and a number of up and coming designers from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. It was important for our team to take a breath and soak up a little atmosphere. We are building a skincare company in the midst of the greatest start-up community in the world! Sharing our story over chocolate tastings and wine pairings was a pleasant reminder that although we have a deep, heartfelt story to tell, things are great. In other words, we needed to lighten up a bit! Once we shed the \’to-do\’ lists, we shared our tale in a different light. Simply put, we talked beauty routines, simplifying our lives, how to feel naturally gorgeous, and threw in that little “try to make a difference” thing.
Silicon Valley has a way of getting you lost in the details. The daily grind is like a marriage between the hustle and bustle so intrinsic to New York City, and the never-ending sunshine of Los Angeles. Sure, we are women with bold personalities and sometimes overly ambitious goals trying to make something not so traditional happen in a male-oriented, tech heavy part of the world…but sometimes we need to stop and smell the Longeva.
Cocktails and Couture was an incredible Silicon Valley experience and we are so honored to have been invited!
